Josie

Josie was dragged kicking and screaming to her fist yoga class in 2003.  AS a lifelong dancer, choreographer and teacher, she naively did not see any need for "more stretching" in her life.  Within her first hour of yoga practice, Josie knew that she had been bit by the yoga bug.  It combined flexibility, strength, strong mental focus and clarity of motion - all of the key elements that a dancer needs to build a successful dance career.

After 4 years of practicing herself, Josie nervously brought her love of yoga to her students beginning in 2007, as a form of conditioning at dance camps throughout the western United States.  The students were immediately receptive and enthusiastic.  Josie began her formal teacher training with Yogafit in 2009.  She completed her Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 trainings in Minnesota with Yogafit Master Trainer Katie Schuver.  Upon completing the trainings, she moved to Texas where she was hired to teach Vinyasa Yoga at Lifetime Fitness.  Josie completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with LifePower Yoga under National Director Jonny Kest and Regional Trainer Sheryl Braun.  Josie currently serves as an Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica at their store in The Woodlands, TX.  She is beyond grateful for the opportunity to foster community outreach and the honor of representing such an inspiring health and fitness focused company.

Shelly "J"

Shelly is a Yoga Alliance 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500).  She received her teaching certificate in 2010 from Houston Medical Center's Institute of Spirituality & Health.  Her passion for yoga began when she experienced the peacefulness of the mind, body and breath connection fostered in class.  Her appreciation for the improvement of her own well being, and the deep respect she developed for the healing art of the practice, turned her from student to teacher in four transformational years.

As an instructor, her objective is to tune you in to the soft signals of your own mind and body through focused awareness to breath and sustained muscle movement.  She primarily considers herself a guide, inviting you to consciously breathe as together you cultivate strength and flexibility while you joyfully unite to your internal body rhythms.

From Shelly:  "I wholeheartedly believe Yoga is practical medicine for the mind, body and soul, and will be a healing addition to anyone's life.  Yoga doesn't need to be achieved or attained, just explored and enjoyed."

Jackie

Jackie took her first yoga class several years ago at Kahanu Yoga.   Even though taking a group class was out of her comfort zone,  she continued to try.  Not long after taking her first yoga class, Kahanu felt like home.   Jackie started out her yoga journey to help alleviate chronic back pain.  After continued practice, she realized that the benefits of yoga became much more than a way to manage her pain.  The tools that yoga provided to cope with stress and tackle challenging situations were life changing.  As a teacher, she hopes to help others in their personal journey through the practice of yoga.

Kim

Kim received her 300 hour yoga certification in Pralaya Yoga in February 2018 and her 200 hour certification in Samdhanna Yoga with Melody White in June 2014.  Kim chose to study these two forms of yoga because they compliment each other as they are both designed to open up the energetic lines of the body.  Kim was drawn to Pralaya yoga after attending a workshop with Robert discussing common injuries and how to rehabilitate and prevent them. Pralaya yoga was instrumental in helping Kim heal from a labral tear in her hip.  Most importantly Pralaya Yoga has taught her how to build strength in the areas that were weak to move forward with a pain free life.  Kim's personal philosophy is to focus with breath to get the most out of each class both physically and emotionally.
